The Moon
The phases of the moon profoundly affect nature; this can be seen in the growth patterns of trees and the behavior of the animals. To think that we humans aren't affected as well is ludicrous! This part of the magickal process can have a profound effect on your spellcasting. The "standard" method (if there is such a thing!) is to work your magick based on the moon phases, and I have included the information required to do that. I have always felt, however, strongly drawn to the magnetic pull – moonrise and moonset (tidal charts come in very handy for this!) – much more than the phases themselves, and feel required to follow those changes first, with the phases following.
The Phases of the Moon
New
Moon – Moon rises at dawn, sets at sunset; for full use of these
energies stick to this time period.
Moon is from exact new moon to 3 1/2 days after.
Workings for: Beauty, health, self-improvement, farms and gardens, job hunting,
love and romance, networking, and creative ventures.
Crescent
– Moon rises at midmorning, sets after sunset; for full use of these
energies stick to this time period.
Moon is from 3 1/2 to 7 days after the new moon.
Workings for: Animals, business, change, emotions, matriarchal strength.
