Creating Sacred Space

First, make sure your sacred space is clean. Light your purifying incense in the middle of the area. Lighting a small white candle, place it upon your altar or similar area and sit or kneel in front of it. Now close your eyes. Spend some time meditating, clearing your mind, preparing it for the task ahead. Visualize the smoke from the incense filling up the room going into every nook and cranny, literally burning away the negativity and other energies in the room. Picture the candle's light begin to swell and fill up the room, chasing out all the shadows in the corners and under the furniture. Feel the purifying power of the light as it cleanses the space.

When you feel the job is done, slowly imagine the light fading out and dimming back to the flame of the candle. By this time you might feel drained, depending on how much energy was needed to clear the space.

Light some incense that has a special meaning for you and proceed to take a ritual bath or some other calming exercise. When you return to your ritual space it should now feel attuned to the day's work.
